Exiting to the menu or completely closing and restarting brings me back to just before the first battle further attempts at battle result in the same. After the first battle, the screen zooms in on my character and the music changes but he doesn't change back to his usual appearance and I am unable to do any actions apart from battle moves though there are no enemies on screen.
